NEW KIT - WHEATLEY Y10 . . .

The NEW Wheatley Y10 kit (as rebuilt by Reid) will be a step back in time for what is a charming 0-4-0 tender locomotive ideally suited to beginner modelers and those with small layouts. The North British Railway built only two prototypes (1010 and 1011), which were slightly different from each other, one of which made it through the 1923 grouping (but never received an LNER number). The kit will be supplied with all castings, handrail knobs, bearings, handrail wire, glazing, electrical wire and couplings as well as fully illustrated instructions. The buffers will have whitemeatal shanks with fully sprung steel heads and there will be the usual mix of lost wax brass and whitemetal castings including chimney, dome, smokebox door and handle, backhead, front and rear bufferbeams, tender brake standard, cab sials, safety valves, whistle, regulator handle, sandbox lids, smokebox blower valve, washout plugs, water tank filler lid, tallow cups, clack valves, injectors and tender axleboxes / springs.

The test build is currently under construction and pre-orders are now being taken.

The assitance of Euan Cameron throughout this project is gratefully acknowledged.
